John, there’s a reason I’m so passionate about defending our democracy.

I was willing to risk my life when I served in Iraq. And when I came back, I didn’t give up on the hard work of protecting democracy. After becoming a lawyer, I worked to defend voting rights and fight for safe and secure elections.

When I started doing voting rights work, I couldn't have imagined that our country would be in such peril now. We had a president – along with his supporters in the House and Senate – who fought to overturn a free and fair election. A president who incited a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol when the American people rejected him at the ballot box.

Defending democracy is on the line as we head to the polls in 2024 – our future depends on it.

We need leaders in the House, Senate, and presidency who will stand up to extremists, and protect your right to vote, our free and fair elections, and our democracy. That’s why I’m running for re-election.

I've been standing up for democracy since I first took the oath to our Constitution as a 17-year old, and it’s a fight I’ve continued during my time in Congress.
