Dear Georgian,

Yesterday, the House passed critical bipartisan aid for Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine with my support.

America is a beacon of freedom and democracy, and we must support those being unjustly attacked or threatened by our adversaries.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. To receive frequent updates, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on X.

Introducing the Ensuring Access to Risk Management Act

As the Chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee with jurisdiction over Federal Crop Insurance, I'm pleased to introduce the Ensuring Access to Risk Management Act along with Representatives Jimmy Panetta and Tracey Mann.

This legislation corrects a current flaw that cuts risk management delivery funding for specialty crops whenever larger row crops experience higher commodity prices. It also restores the annual inflation adjustment for risk management delivery funding for all crops.

Agriculture in Georgia is very diverse, and this legislation is designed to ensure that the infrastructure delivering our producers' most important safety net is on solid ground.

Speaking in Support of the Farm Bill

If you are a person who eats, then you should care about the Farm Bill.

Right now, farmers are struggling with rising input costs that make it more difficult for them to produce the food we need. I joined House Agriculture Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson on the House floor to speak to the importance of making major improvements to Title I in the Farm Bill and address the impact of high input prices on our farmers.

The current statutory reference prices were established in the 2014 Farm Bill using 2012 cost of production data. We are using 2012 data to determine the point at which support under Price Loss Coverage kicks in if the market price falls below the reference price during a time when producers are seeing record-high input costs.

Supporting our farmers through increased reference prices in the Farm Bill means that we support those who grow the crops to sustain our food supply.

As the Chairman of the General Farm Commodities, Risk Management, and Credit Subcommittee, I am committed to making significant improvements to Title I and giving the support to our farmers that they deserve.
