John, five presidents in history, including Donald Trump, captured enough Electoral College votes to win the election, but actually lost in the popular vote. In fact, in 2016, Hillary Clinton walked away with nearly 3 million more votes than Trump.

Should we abolish the Electoral College?
The Electoral College allows minority rule, bypassing basic democratic principles. It favors white and rural areas, reducing the value of more diverse populations and minorities.
Above all, the Electoral College ensures that only a handful of swing states receive any attention during the presidential race.
