supporters weekly to update them on what she's working on in Capitol Hill and
across NY-21.

Here are a few top Team Elise updates and stories we have been tracking for
the past week!

Elise Puts Columbia University’s Antisemitism on Blast

Last December, the world watched as Chairwoman Stefanik took on the presidents
of so-called ‘Elite Universities’ Harvard, Penn, and MIT. No one would have
expected it would be the hearing to go viral – but it did. No one thought it
would be the most viewed congressional testimony in history – but it was, and
it reached over a billion views across all platforms within a week. Lastly,
Elise didn't expect it would be so difficult for these Ivy League presidents to
answer ‘Yes’ on such a simple moral question.

Chairwoman Stefanik’s questioning of these universities shined a light on
academic institutions as a whole – including the corrupt people who run them.

On Tuesday, Elise penned a scathing op-ed in the New York Post about Columbia
University’s lack of action regarding antisemitism on campus.

New York Post –Stefanik: The House will hold Columbia accountable for its
campus antisemitism

On Wednesday, Elise and her colleagues on the House Education and Workforce
Committee held another hearing on antisemitism on college campuses, this time
focusing on Columbia University. Columbia recently received a ‘D’ on the ADL’s
Campus Antisemitism Report Card.

Following the hearing, Elise released the following statement –

“Today's hearing of Columbia University president and board members epitomizes
the failed leadership on "elite" college campuses to combat antisemitism and
protect Jewish students. From the university president's moral equivocation on
antisemitism, to glaringly inconsistent testimony regarding disciplinary action
and lack thereof taken against antisemitic students and pro-terrorist faculty,
to astonishingly stating that there has been no "anti-Jewish" protests on
campus only to then acknowledge that "F-- the Jews" & "Death to the Jews" is
in-fact anti-Jewish when she was further pressed.

Interestingly, during a break, the witnesses were overheard discussing how
well they thought their testimony was going for Columbia. This arrogance is
eerily reminiscent to the previous three university presidents who believed
walking out of the hearing that their testimony was acceptable. Columbia is in
for a reckoning of accountability.

If it takes a member of Congress to force a university president to fire a
pro-terrorist, antisemitic faculty chair, then Columbia University leadership
is failing Jewish students and its academic mission. No amount of overlawyered,
overprepped, and over-consulted testimony is going to cover up for failure to
act.”

Elise Honored in TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People

On Wednesday, TIME Magazine named Elise to the 2024 TIME100 Most Influential
People list. TIME releases this list annually to highlight the most prominent
figures of the year. Read Elise’s statement on the distinction –

“I’m honored to be featured in TIME’s 100 Most Influential People. Giving
Upstate NY and the North Country a voice at the highest levels of government is
the most humbling privilege of my career. I am committed to saving our great
nation and will never stop fighting for YOU.”

The full list and related tributes will appear in the April 29, 2024, issue of
TIME, available on newsstands now.

Describing Elise, journalist Charlotte Alter wrote –

“Stefanik has become a leading force in the conservative push to investigate
DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) and antisemitism on college campuses;
her pointed questioning of university presidents at a congressional hearing
contributed to the resignation of the president of the University of
Pennsylvania, and kick-started a pressure campaign that resulted in the
resignation of the president of Harvard University, her alma mater.”

Elise Introduces Legislation to Support Veterans

Last Thursday, Elise co-led the Veterans Claims Quality Improvement Act with
Rep. Luttrell (TX-08), and Rep. Bilirakis (FL-12), to ensure that the VA Board
of Veterans’ Appeals provides veterans and their families with legally accurate
and fair decisions on their claims for VA benefits in a timely manner. Elise
stated –

“Bringing the concerns of our veterans and service members to the highest
levels of government will always be one of my top priorities. I am proud to
co-lead Chairman Luttrell’s legislation to ensure our veterans’ claims are
processed and results are delivered with the urgency they deserve.”

Elise and her colleagues on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Chairman
Bost (IL-12), and Rep. Bilirakis (FL-12), also introduced the Veterans Appeals
Options Expansion Act of 2024. This is comprehensive legislation that builds on
the Veterans Appeals Improvement and Modernization Act of 2017 to expand
veterans’ appeals options through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Board
of Veterans’ Appeals when seeking their disability compensation benefits. Elise
stated –

“As the Representative of Upstate New York and the North Country which is
home to the largest population of veterans and retirees in New York State, I am
honored to introduce the Veterans Appeals Options Expansion Act of 2024 to
deliver well deserved timely and accurate disability compensation benefits to
the brave men and women who honorably served our country.

This crucial legislation makes needed reforms to a decaying VA appeals
process putting American veterans back in the driver's seat giving them more
control and more options. Our American veterans deserve better, this key
legislation ensures that our selfless veterans get access to their
well-deserved VA benefits.”

Elise touts Protecting Rural Access to Care Act in Local Op-Ed

This week, Elise published an op-ed in North Country Now detailing her fight
to protect access to health care for rural New Yorkers, including the
Protecting Rural Access to Care Act which reduces the financial vulnerability
of rural hospitals. In it, she writes –

“As the representative for NY-21, I remain steadfast in my commitment to
ensuring our hospitals have the resources necessary to expand access to care
throughout Upstate New York and the North Country.”

Corrupt Dems Continue Weaponization Against President Trump

This week, President Trump was in New York City for another witchhunt trial
led by corrupt Far Left Democrats. This lawfare against President Trump is
clear election interference, and it is a weaponization of our corrupted legal
system! Elise released a statement in support of President Trump stating –

“BREAKING: Corrupt Judge Merchan, a Biden donor whose family member has
profited off this case & who illegally gagged President Trump just said "If you
do not show up, there will be an arrest." A 6-8 week show trial... Total
election interference.”
