What began as a one-off magazine piece kept growing. Fourteen years after his original research, Buettner traveled again to the Blue Zones to uncover meals developed over generations based on whole grains, greens, nuts, and beans. They offer the promise of eluding disease and staying healthy. We’re envious of Buettner, finding happiness in a Sardinian kitchen (pictured above) where a family prepares culurgiones, a traditional dish of the Ogliastra area. The pasta dough is shaped into pockets and stuffed with potato, pecorino cheese, and mint, of course.
