Dear  john ,

I hope that you and your family are well. This was a disastrous week in Washington, with the Swamp denizens running amok and trampling on your rights. The ostensibly Republican House leadership, after months of correctly stating that America’s border should be funded before those of other nations, decided to instead shill for Biden’s America Last plan to bail out foreign nations and pass it through the House.

Congress puts America Last. Again.

Today was a shameful day for the House of Representatives. Members voted to pass a monstrous America Last bill to fund foreign wars to the tune of nearly $100 billion.

TWEET: This will separate the sheep from the goats

Yesterday, 54 of my colleagues and I voted against the rule to bring this package to the floor, but the uniparty Swamp monsters, led by House Republican leadership, championed Biden’s effort to put Ukraine First and America’s borders and people last. Democrats even waved foreign flags on the floor as the bill passed.

TWEET: Gleefully waving Ukrainian flags as the American people suffer under Biden's border invasion.

Even the Indo-Pacific aid package contained a provision allowing the transfer of billions of dollars to Ukraine. Numerous other Biden boondoggles were snuck into these bills, including a new version of the censorious bill to ban TikTok, which I continue to oppose.

It has long been crystal clear that the uniparty political class in Washington acts contrary to the needs of the American people. I will continue to fight against that rotten consensus, and for the real interests of Americans, with all that I’ve got.

Shameful Secretary Mayorkas

This past week, we saw a shameful display in the Senate, as Democrats voted to dismiss the impeachment charges against Secretary Mayorkas, who has willfully and purposefully violated the laws he is charged with executing.

WATCH: Secretary Mayorkas is a danger to every American.

In the same week, he reappeared before the House Homeland Security Committee for questioning.

Mayorkas also could not and would not answer why he paroled Jose Ibarra, Laken Riley’s killer, into the US.

WATCH: He had no lawful basis at all.

Why? Because it was done illegally. Senators Graham and Hawley reiterated this during their own questionings.

China’s “de minimis” loophole

This past week, I spoke on the House floor about a menacing threat that China is exploiting to devastate U.S. businesses, elude fentanyl detection, and crush our economy – the de minimis tariff loophole.

In 2023, nearly a BILLION packages entered the U.S. through $800 de minimis shipments - nearly 4 million per day. These are usually e-commerce packages, often sent through the sketchy Chinese companies Temu and Shein. Temu reportedly loses $30 per order in a deliberate strategy to flood the US market with cheap crap and obtain market dominance.

You don’t need to be an economist to see just how devastating this is to American industry. Since September alone, 14 US textile mills have shut down, including the Gildan Yarns plant in our district.

It’s not only textiles. According to CBP, 85% of all seizures for health and safety violations were de minimis shipments. Counterfeit drugs and electronics, illicit narcotics, and chemicals used to manufacture fentanyl and other synthetic drugs.

The CCP is intent on crushing our economy and flooding America with illicit fentanyl and has no qualms about using slave labor to do so. We should stop giving them that opportunity.

I am proud to be leading the coalition to close the de minimis loophole with Rep. Earl Blumenauer, and to co-sponsor his bill that will end de minimis for non-market economies.

Standing with Police Officers

I recently introduced the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act, which will require thorough data collection and reports on attacks against law enforcement officers, as well as provide them with necessary mental health resources.

I’m pleased to share that the bill PASSED through the Judiciary Committee and will head to the House floor.

Unfortunately, many of the same leftists who pushed defund the police nonsense were against this bill, even though it has received bipartisan, bicameral, support.

WATCH:  Disheartening, but not surprising.

I look forward to my bill passing the House -- and hopefully being signed into law.

The Week in Weaponized Government

This past week, the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution convened a hearing on the gross violations of our rights that the government pursued under the guise of combatting covid – and that some still want to pursue through the continuation of lockdown-style polices and ceding power to the WHO.

WATCH: No WHO Treaty.

I addressed a recent case here in North Carolina where a teenager was vaccinated without his consent.

In New York, the Kangaroo Court set up by Biden’s weaponized DOJ against President Trump began this past week with jury selection. As President Trump has accurately stated – this is nothing short of election interference and the weaponization of our justice system against Biden’s political enemies. I’m monitoring all developments closely, and stand strongly against the continued weaponization of our institutions.

I’ve long been a support of Rep. Davidson’s Fourth Amendment is not for Sale Act, which, if enacted, will bar the government from using shady data broker loopholes to obtain your data without a warrant. That bill resoundingly passed the House last week – welcome news after the House voted to expand another form of warrantless surveillance.
