Even though we knew running for office would be harder for Nida as a young, Muslim woman, it never gets easier to watch your child be villainized with hateful, Islamophobic threats.

But our daughter defied the odds, because supporters like you stood with her against the hate thrown her way.

She became the first Muslim woman elected to office in NC history, and just last month, she became the first Muslim woman re-elected to office in our state.

But Nida’s work doesn’t stop here, John. Republicans have nominated some of the most fringe, extreme candidates in history. These candidates have called for executing President Obama, banning Muslims from elected office, and filling NC with hate.

We, along with our daughter, believe that hate has no home here in North Carolina, and we’re committed to stopping it. Now, we need you with us.
