I proudly voted to fully support Israel in defending itself against Iran and its terrorist proxies, and implement strong sanctions and policies to counter Iran, China, and Russia.   April 20, 2024 Standing for Freedom with Our Allies I proudly voted to fully support Israel in defending itself against Iran and its terrorist proxies, and implement strong sanctions and policies to counter Iran, China, and Russia. On Ukraine I was conflicted. I’ve seen war up close and know malign actors need to be stopped before they devour our allies. We gave the White House a roadmap earlier this year to aid Ukraine and defeat Russia. However, I could not support the approach voted on. Not as Democrats today opposed including border security and adding my LNG export provisions to the package. Show me a secure border and the Permian supplying the world the energy it needs and I’ll show you a world closer to peace and security. The United States Should Not Fund Iran This week, the U.S. House passed my legislation to permanently freeze all Iranian-sanctioned assets, including the $6 billion in funds President Biden unfroze on September 11, 2023. Americans deserve leaders who unequivocally stand against terror and with our ally Israel, not those who facilitate Tehran’s access to billions of dollars. President Biden's strategy of appeasement has made our country less safe and emboldened our adversaries to attack U.S. allies around the world. I am proud that the House passed my bill to stop the flow of money into Iran’s war machine and help protect Israel. Watch here or below for my floor remarks in support of permanently freezing Iranian-sanctioned assets. Secretary Mayorkas Impeachment On Tuesday, I transmitted the House Articles of Impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to the U.S. Senate. The evidence against Secretary Mayorkas is clear, comprehensive, and compelling. The Senate is constitutionally-mandated to hold a full trial, hear the evidence, and render a verdict. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats crushed over 200 years of precedent and voted to dismiss the Articles without a trial—proving that they do not care about the crisis at the southern border. This violation of the Constitution sets a horrible precedent. I will continue fighting to deliver accountability and secure the southern border. Unlock American Energy with LNG I penned an op-ed in The Washington Times highlighting the need to overturn the Biden Administration's liquefied natural gas (LNG) export ban and the threat it poses to national security. Click here or below to read the full article. Oversight of the Biden Administration's LNG Ban I joined the U.S. House Oversight Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs to question the Department of Energy's (DOE) decision to ban liquefied natural gas exports. The move is yet another instance of the Biden Administration caving to radical climate activists. I questioned the DOE Assistant Secretary for the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, who admitted that U.S. energy producers are concerned about President Biden's ban on LNG exports. Watch here or below for my line of questioning. Our National Security is at Risk with Mayorkas Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas appeared before the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee to defend President Biden’s 2025 DHS Budget Request. It was the first time he has appeared before our Committee since the U.S. House voted to impeach him. I questioned him if the border was secure and if he had briefed President Biden on whether a terrorist attack could be imminent in the United States. Watch my full line of questioning here or below. 2024 Congressional Art Competition The deadline is approaching for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition.
