Friend,
Today is 4/20, a holiday dedicated to celebrating marijuana.
Colorado was the first state to legalize marijuana. Now, marijuana recreational use is legal in 24 states. And, seventy-four percent of Americans now live in a state where it is legal for recreational use or medical use.
Yet, tens of thousands of people remain in prison today for cannabis-related offenses.
Drug laws in the United States have historically targeted communities of color, exacerbated inequality, and led to mass incarceration. Despite Black and white individuals using marijuana at similar rates, Black individuals are almost four times as likely to be arrested.
It’s time to change these unjust laws.
Michael has been working to legalize marijuana at the federal level and expunge the convictions of individuals who served federal time for cannabis-related offenses.
This 4/20, will you support legalizing marijuana on a federal level by signing our petition?
