Last week, the Agriculture Department rolled out $1.5 billion in conservation funds from the Inflation Reduction Act - which will fund additional conservation projects on agricultural lands.
However, the Republican chairman of the Agriculture Committee, Glenn Thompson, is plowing ahead with a partisan Farm Bill that would cut the funding the USDA relies on to invest in these critical environmental projects.
This is a serious issue, John. SEEC Members like Kim Schrier and Chellie Pingree, who co-chair SEEC’s Climate and Agriculture Task Force, have been instrumental in championing a Farm Bill that supports farmers and helps them become a part of the climate solution, but Republicans are seemingly undeterred in taking us backwards.
We have to take back the House and stop them from passing a partisan Farm Bill.
Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
