I’m calling on my Senate colleagues and the Biden administration to take bipartisan action to decriminalize cannabis at the federal level and continue the work of restorative justice, by accelerating initiatives like President Biden’s recent pardon of individuals with federal convictions for cannabis possession.

John —

Dozens of states have long since legalized cannabis for medical and adult use, pouring the tax revenue back into better schools, roads, and public services.

State legislators and voters across the political spectrum have acted in a bipartisan way to move our nation beyond this destructive phase of the War on Drugs and regulate cannabis in a responsible way that strengthens our communities.

But the Senate remains behind the times.

So today, I’m calling on my Senate colleagues and the Biden administration to take bipartisan action to decriminalize cannabis at the federal level and continue the work of restorative justice, by accelerating initiatives like President Biden’s recent pardon of individuals with federal convictions for cannabis possession. Add your name if you agree.

SIGN THE PETITION

John, we are closer than we’ve ever been to reversing the decades of struggle for fair housing, employment, and education by individuals whose nonviolent arrests for cannabis have derailed their and their families’ lives.

I am clear-eyed about the difficult road ahead, and I intend to lead the process of restorative justice that the Senate must take up to begin healing the deep wounds we have done to so many communities — particularly communities of color that have suffered the legal consequences of our War on Drugs at disproportionate rates.

If you agree that we must move to decriminalize cannabis at the federal level and accelerate our efforts for restorative justice to heal the harm of the War on Drugs, then add your name to my petition calling on the Senate and President Biden to join me in taking action >>

I will never stop fighting for the more just, loving nation that I know we can become. With your support, this policy change will bring us that much closer to realizing this dream. Thanks for joining me.

With love and gratitude,

Cory
