Latin America
Praise God for the opportunity to record two interviews with a Guatemalan radio station. IJM’s psychologist, along with a group of church leaders who focus on protecting children from physical and sexual violence, spoke on the issue of sexual abuse of children. The recordings will be broadcast next week, and this will be a great chance to reach a wider segment of the Guatemalan population. Please pray that God would touch the hearts of those who will hear the interviews.
Africa & Europe
Please pray for IJM's advocacy in Romania to be successful. Pray that Romanian legislation would change by year's end to increase sentencing for human trafficking offenses and disallow traffickers to obtain suspended sentences.
South Asia
Pray for two upcoming training events with specialized anti-trafficking police. IJM will be equipping them with trauma-informed interview tactics, so they can more effectively work with victims of trafficking and violence on their cases. It is critical that police understand how to create safe spaces where victims feel comfortable and will be willing to share openly. Pray these officers would be engaged and excited by this training so we can strengthen cases against traffickers.
Asia Pacific
Praise God for the rescue of over 20 individuals from a scamming center in Myanmar. We are so grateful for cooperation from both government and non-government groups to release, identify and assist the victims who were trafficked to a new country and forced to reach daily quotas or be physically abused. With the assistance of IJM and government partners, the victims will soon return home. Join us in praying for their repatriation back to their home country and for their recovery in freedom.
