Team — This is a timely request.

Earlier this week USCIS announced that while they are closed they will use previously submitted biometrics to process renewals for people who had biometrics appointments scheduled.

That means we need to spring into action, friend. We’re still laser-focused on getting as many DACA recipients renewed as possible before the Supreme Court hands down their decision, but there are still many people who will need financial support to do it.

Earlier this year we had to put a pause on accepting applications for DACA Renewal Fund assistance — the funds had run out. This team stepped up in a big way to help us reopen the program and right now we have 85 more recipients who need our help and are on the waiting list to get it.

To cover them all we need to raise another $42,000 — and fast.

If you’re able, will you make a donation of any amount today to the DACA Renewal Fund? Every dollar donated to the Fund will go towards supporting a DACA recipient who needs help renewing their protections. It’s critical we take advantage of every moment we have between now and June to renew as many people’s protections as possible.

It’s important we take advantage of this moment for a few reasons. First, despite being closed until May 3, the USCIS will still process applications during this time. They’ve announced that they’ll use previously submitted biometrics for those who had appointments scheduled during this period. And if SCOTUS delivers an opinion between now and then, there could be a chance they may still renew applications that have already been submitted.

It’s a costly process, too, friend. People renewing their DACA during this time are likely meeting with immigration lawyers. They will need to come up with all the fees associated with renewing, at least $495 per person. And they’ll need to send their applications via certified mail to make sure it can be tracked during processing.

This is an uncertain time for many in our community, and one easy way to help is to get financial aid to as many people as possible to do what they can to submit their applications and get a small peace of mind that they have done what they can to protect themselves.

Thank you for making a donation today to the DACA Renewal Fund. Your contribution, of any amount, can make a huge difference in the life of a DACA recipient who needs to renew their protections before SCOTUS hands down their decision — which could be any day now. Even a few dollars can go a long way to providing some relief for one of the 85 DACA recipients on our waiting list.
