Good news out of Colorado!

Earlier today, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed HB24-1098, the For Cause Evictions bill, into law! Introduced by Colorado State Senator Julie Gonzales, a NAL trainer and alum, this new law protects renters against discriminatory practices and is an important step forward in addressing housing instability.

“This is judicial cruelty. It is also out of touch with the overwhelming majority of Arizonans.”

Arizona State Senators Anna Hernandez and Priya Sundareshan along with State Representatives Analise Ortiz and Lorena Austin—all NALpistas—spoke out against a draconian law from 1864 that the Arizona Supreme Court recently revived. This law takes away the right to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom and will have devastating consequences, especially for those in immigrant communities and communities of color where there is already a lack of access to quality, affordable health care.

This is just one of the many examples of why we need leaders in office—like our NALpistas in Arizona—who will fight for policies that strengthen our rights, not take them away.

Felicia Singh, a NAL trainer and alum, was recognized for the second year in a row by City and State New York’s Who’s Who for her continued advocacy for children and families, immigrants, and workers’ rights.
Former Jersey City School Board President and Ready to Lead Midwest ‘24 alum Mussab Ali has announced that he will be running for Jersey City Mayor.
Bilal Hammoud, a Ready to Lead® alum, just announced that he has been selected as the Executive Director of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce.
