John,

November 5th inches closer and closer every day. As we approach election day, our momentum to #FlipTheFifth cannot be stopped.

Just this week, it was announced that we outraised Jahana Hayes for the second FEC quarter in a row! I’d be willing to bet you she’s getting nervous... It's clear that she underestimated this 'underdog'!
We couldn’t have done it without your support, whether it was big or small - I want you to know that I appreciate each and every one of you.

I know that in order to defeat the status quo here in Connecticut and across the country, we need strong grassroots and financial support. Our campaign has inspired people from CT and across the entire United States to get involved, and I couldn’t be more fired up.

While all this hard work has gotten us this far, the race is still far from over. We only have 199 days to #FlipTheFifth - If we want to make history in Connecticut, we can’t afford to waste even a single day!

Let’s keep the momentum going strong. If we work together, I know we can accomplish anything.

"The first woman to ever serve as chief justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court has died. She was 94.

Ellen Ash Peters was the first woman appointed to the state Supreme Court in 1978 and six years later, she became the first woman to serve as chief justice.

'Chief Justice Peters achieved many firsts...She is a trailblazer, who in her nearly two decades of public service authored hundreds of opinions, many of which continue to have a lasting impact,' Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement."

"Connecticut became the first Division I men’s college basketball team to win back-to-back championships since Florida 17 years ago, as the Huskies downed Purdue 75-60 in the NCAA title game Monday.

'You can’t even wrap your mind around it because you just know how hard this tournament is,' UConn head coach Dan Hurley said after the game in Glendale, Arizona. 'What a special group of people, a special coaching staff and incredible group of players. The best group of players you could possibly do it with and UConn. UConn’s a special place this time of year and they give us all the resources we need to do it like this in March and April.'"

"Over in Connecticut’s 5th District, Republican George Logan is, like Anderson, back for a second crack at the apple–and he’s once again outraised the incumbent, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes. In the first three months of 2024, Logan raised $593,618 to Hayes’s $568,866.83. In 2022, Logan was outraised by almost 3-to-1, and lost by fewer than 2,000 votes in a year that ended up Red Wave-less.

This time around, polling already shows a neck-and-neck race. The NRCC released a poll late last year that showed 43% of voters backing Hayes, 41% backing Logan, and a whopping 16% who are still undecided…

…This time around, the totals were closer–last quarter, Logan absolutely smoked Hayes on fundraising, raking in $426,088.37 to Hayes’s $282,497.14. Last quarter,Logan topped Hayes by almost$150,000; this quarter, he outraised her by about $30,000."

"WATERBURY – Republican candidate George Logan, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Jahana Hayes for the 5th District Congressional seat, sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland urging the immediate review of the Department of Justice June 2022 and February 2024 investigations and subsequent policy changes regarding the safety and security of students and teachers in Waterbury schools.

'Waterbury parents and teachers are extremely frustrated by the lack of information regarding the Department of Justice investigations and subsequent policy changes related to violence and arrests throughout the school district,' Logan wrote in a letter to Garland on Monday."

"Both articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas were deemed unconstitutional by the Senate on Wednesday in two party-line votes.

The first of two articles of impeachment alleged Mayorkas engaged in the 'willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law' regarding the southern border in his capacity as DHS secretary. The second claimed Mayorkas had breached public trust."

"Nashville, Tennessee, April 18 (Reuters) - Chinese government-linked hackers have burrowed into U.S. critical infrastructure and are waiting 'for just the right moment to deal a devastating blow,' FBI Director Christopher Wray said on Thursday.

An ongoing Chinese hacking campaign known as Volt Typhoon has successfully gained access to numerous American companies in telecommunications, energy, water and other critical sectors, with 23 pipeline operators targeted, Wray said in a speech at Vanderbilt University.

China is developing the 'ability to physically wreak havoc on our critical infrastructure at a time of its choosing,' Wray said at the 2024 Vanderbilt Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats. 'Its plan is to land low blows against civilian infrastructure to try to induce panic.'"
