Our farmers produce the safest and most abundant food supply in the world. Advancements in agricultural inputs have further increased efficiency, improved resiliency to disease and drought, and reduced impacts on the environment.

However, China has captured significant control of the supply chain for agricultural inputs like vitamins, veterinary pharmaceuticals, and crop protection tools. China could weaponize these dependencies against us. Iowa farmers have told me that if China decides to shut off U.S. access to these inputs, food production could slow to a halt.

That's why I introduced the bipartisan Securing American Agriculture Act. My bill will promote domestic production of agriculture inputs and ensure China does not have the power to restrict American food production. From blocking Communist China from owning our farm land to reshoring the agriculture supply chain, we must take action to protect our food security.

I am grateful for the work Iowa farmers do to feed and fuel the world and I will continue working to protect American agriculture and our food supply.

Hearing Highlight: Fighting Fentanyl

This week, the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party released a report revealing Communist China is directly subsidizing fentanyl production and trafficking into the United States. It is state-sponsored poisoning of American citizens, and inaction isn't an option. Following the report, we held a hearing on ways we can hold the CCP accountable and save American lives.

Here are a few highlights from the hearing:

• I shared the story of Iowa Special Agent Mulnix who happened to be on hand when a Dubuque woman was overdosing on fentanyl. He was able to immediately administer Narcan and save her life. You can watch the clip here.

• I asked witnesses to share how we can implement secure border strategies to prevent fentanyl and fentanyl-laced substances from being smuggled across the Southern Border by Chinese nationals. Watch the clip here.

Child Exploitation and Artificial Intelligence Expert Commission Act

While there are many exciting benefits of AI, we have already seen examples of this technology being weaponized and misused. As a mom, I am deeply concerned about child predators using AI to exploit our kids. As this technology gains traction, we need to be proactive – not reactive – about potential dangers to children and other vulnerable populations.

That's why I helped introduce bipartisan legislation to empower law enforcement to prevent AI child exploitation crimes and prosecute those who perpetrate these disgusting abuses. Read more on my efforts here.
