Crenshaw drills HHS Secretary on Biden's Insane Gender-Affirming Care Policies
The Biden Administration proves every day just how radical they are. This time, Biden’s Secretary of Health & Human Services refuses to admit that his department is pushing pseudoscience disguised as healthcare. But healthcare is not 1) affirming a child’s temporary ideations about their gender, 2) putting that child on puberty blockers, then hormones, and ultimately surgery. Most Americans and normal people would say that giving a 12-year-old girl a double mastectomy is not ok. If you’re going to support transitioning children (which is NUTS), with permanent physiological changes –you better have VERY HIGH-QUALITY evidence. But the Left has no good evidence.
It’s all Left-Wing ideology that has infected our medical institutions, including major medical associations and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Dr. Hillary Cass, a former president of the Royal College of Pediatrics and one of the U.K.’s most highly respected pediatricians, was appointed by the National Health Service in England to head an independent review. The final review came out last week, and it pretty much torches the so-called “gender-affirming” approach that the United States has taken. To quote the review: “The evidence [for puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgery] is weak and clinicians have told us they are unable to determine with any certainty which children and young people will go on to have [gender dysphoria].” –The Cass Review
Want to know their key finding? Of the more than 100 studies examining the role of puberty blockers and hormone treatment for gender transition only 2 were of passable quality. Our peer countries are yelling at the United States to stop mutilating children. And I asked the Secretary a very basic question: whether he would listen. His answer: we rely on medical associations and the best evidence available. He’s a mouthpiece for the Radical Left. Gender ideology belongs in the ash heap of history, and that’s exactly why I will continue to push my legislation to defund children’s hospitals that push this pseudoscience.
Health Subcommittee Discusses Cyber Security for Healthcare Industry
This week, I also questioned cybersecurity experts and health care providers about the impact of the largest cyberattack on the health care system in U.S. history - the Change Healthcare Cyber Attack. Please contact me if you are having any issues with unpaid claims because of the cyberattack.
From the House Floor:
Israel is our greatest ally in the Middle East, and we should continue with unwavering support as she defends herself against evil.
This week we voted on a number of bills targeting Iran and supporting Israel. We also targeted terrorist organizations such as Hamas that hide behind innocent civilians, putting women and children in danger.
Here are a few of the bills I supported this week:
H. RES. 1143 — “Condemning Iran's unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel”
H. RES. 883 – “Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the slogan, "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" is antisemitic and its use must be condemned"
H. RES. 288 – “Urging the European Union to expeditiously designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization under Common Position 931”
H.R. 5917 – “To amend the Sanctioning the Use of Civilians as Defenseless Shields Act to modify and extend that Act”
H.R. 3033 – “To repeal the sunset provision of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996"
H.R. 5947 – “To provide for the rescission of certain waivers and licenses relating to Iran"
Former Senator Rob Portman joined me on my podcast to talk about all the benefits and pitfalls of American trade policy. We examined the history and evolution of trade policy, the debate over free trade vs protectionism, tariffs vs subsidies, and finding the right balance to create fair competition and the movement of goods between nations.
We also discussed the prospects for the TikTok bill passing the Senate and get into some Civics 101 on the differences between legislating in the Senate vs the House.
Prior to serving as Ohio’s Senator from 2011 to 2023, Sen. Portman served as Director of the Office of Management and Budget and United States Trade Representative in the George W. Bush administration. Today he is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at American Enterprise Institute with a focus on public policy and free trade expansion.
