In a moment, I’m going to ask you to chip in to support Colin Allred’s Senate campaign against Ted Cruz in Texas, but first, I want to tell you why your contribution can really make a difference in Texas.

Democrats hold a razor-thin majority in the Senate. We’re defending a handful of seats in key battleground states. If Republicans win just one seat, they could take back the Senate. That means not only do we have to help our incumbents win, but we have to pick up every possible seat we can. And with CNN calling Ted Cruz the most vulnerable Republican Senator in the country, Texas is our opportunity, friend.

Polls show a tight race. But after Colin made it through the primary, Cruz’s special interest allies started running attack ads against Colin on top of his GOP mega donors already pouring more than $46 million into his warchest.

That’s why I’m personally asking: Can you chip in $5 today to help Colin Allred keep up with Ted Cruz’s millions and defeat him at the ballot box in November so Democrats can protect our majority?

We need someone like Colin in the Senate. He’s a 4th generation Texan who was raised in Dallas by a single mother – a public school teacher who often had to work two jobs to support their family. He’s faced the same hardships many Americans are facing right now and he knows how to persevere. And his work as a civil rights attorney has given him a deep commitment to voting rights and reproductive freedom, which are under constant attack by the GOP in Texas and in Washington. 

If we want to protect these rights and safeguard our Senate majority, we need to send Colin to the Senate this year. It won’t be easy, considering Cruz has right-wing donors ready to try to buy him six more years. But it will be worth it. 

Let’s show Ted Cruz this grassroots team has what it takes to defeat him.
