Defending the Southern Border and Bolstering Texas' Economy As one of the House managers for the impeachment trial of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, I delivered the two articles of impeachment to the Senate this week. Secretary Mayorkas has repeatedly violated his oath of office, defied our nation's laws, and made our communities less safe. Under Secretary Mayorkas' watch, over 9 million people have illegally crossed the border — including over 300 people on the terror watch list — and over 200,000 Americans have died from fentanyl poisoning. Secretary Mayorkas has failed the American people. Yet with all of this evidence against him, Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats voted to let him off the hook and refused to hold a trial. This week will go down in history as the week Senate Democrats abandoned their constitutional responsibility, defying centuries of historical precedent, and failed the American people. McCaul delivering the impeachment articles to the U.S. Senate $6.4 Billion CHIPS Grant to Boost Texas Economy This week, I joined Samsung executives along with federal, state, and local officials for an event to celebrate the announcement of a proposed $50 billion investment in Texas made possible through my CHIPS for America Act. Semiconductor chips are the backbone of U.S. national security — the brains behind everything from toasters to our nation's most advanced weapons systems. I authored and introduced the CHIPS for America Act at the request of President Trump's national security team to onshore U.S. production of this critical asset. Since its passage, we have embarked on the greatest tech revolution since the Manhattan Project, and I couldn’t be prouder to see Samsung leading the way right here in Texas. This historic investment will bring thousands of high-paying jobs to our state, bolster our economy, and strengthen our national security. Thankfully, Israel shot down 99 percent of these rockets and drones, in collaboration with the U.S., UK, Jordan, and other partners and allies. I talked more about the implications of this event and Congress' efforts to hold the regime and its proxies accountable on Face the Nation. Click to watch This attack was a major escalation of tensions in the region and proves Iran is becoming more and more aggressive. This week, I spoke on the House floor about two House Foreign Affairs Committee bills that would counter the Iranian regime and its proxies and gives Congress a say in any effort to extend financial relief. Every dollar that goes to the Iranian regime, in any form, has the potential to be deadly, and the events of this past weekend demonstrated that. Yet the Biden administration has repeatedly extended financial relief to Iran in an appeasement effort. These bills would ensure the U.S. maintains pressure on Iran, the leading state sponsor of terror. Watch my remarks: Click to watch ICYMI: Rep.
