John,

I might be running to serve California in Congress, but that doesn’t mean the work stops on behalf of Californians in the Assembly.

Every day in office it’s my mission to deliver progress, and I'm proud to share just a few of my efforts to protect our environment this session:

AB 2256, which would bring affordability and jobs back to rooftop solar by requiring the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to consider the total benefits of rooftop solar. Rooftop solar is a linchpin of our transition to renewable energy, and this will put our state back on track to rapidly build out our solar grid to meet California’s decarbonization goals.

AB 3155, which holds Big Oil responsible for the cancers, birth defects, and respiratory disease linked to oil and gas drilling on nearby communities; new financial liability for oil producers for harm from community oil drilling. The health effects caused by oil drilling cost American taxpayers $77 billion annually. It is time that the people causing that harm and burdening taxpayers with that extreme cost incur their share of the financial cost for the damage they created.

AB 1963, which would ban paraquat, a powerful and widely used weedkiller that has been linked to Parkinson’s disease, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, childhood leukemia, and other serious health issues. Paraquat is already banned in more than 60 countries, including those with large agricultural economies, like the United Kingdom, China, Brazil and the members of the European Union, yet California remains the top user of the spray in our nation.

I am proud that these critical environmental bills are now in the pipeline, and I will work tirelessly until my final day to ensure these become law.

And as your Congresswoman, you can guarantee I will take this spirit of strong, environmental action like this national, and always put your safety ahead of easy short-cuts.

If you’re able, please donate $3 today to help ensure we bring proven, effective environmental and health leadership to Washington.
