Friends,

At last night’s forum, Congresswoman Spartz challenged Chuck Goodrich to have a real debate, not just two-minute presentations of talking points, and he refused.

“Crooked Chuck is spending millions of dollars to smear my conservative record with lies, so he can buy this election and get even richer in Congress,” Spartz said. “Hoosiers should be asking why he is so afraid to defend his statements and deserve to hear directly from the leaders who want to represent them.”

Other candidates have noted that Goodrich just says a few short talking points and doesn’t even stand by the negative statements in his TV ads. So, this will be his chance. Congress will not be holding votes the week of April 22, so Goodrich can pick the time that works best for his schedule. The moderator can be from a newspaper or TV station and the format should be a real debate. A real debate allows a candidate to answer a question, for their opponent to rebut it, and then for a follow up and second rebuttal. This is the standard format to prevent ducking of issues.

Chuck Goodrich has spent over $2.6 million of his personal money to launch negative ads in this campaign. “Goodrich needs to put his mouth where his money is”,  Spartz added.
