Dear Neighbor,

Today is the LAST DAY to submit your art for the Congressional Art Competition!

For 42 years, the House of Representatives has hosted a unique competition that showcases artwork created by high school students throughout the nation. The competition is open to any student who resides in the 44th Congressional District. You can confirm your district here.

Submitted artwork must be two-dimensional and no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep when framed; unframed artwork must be small enough to accommodate a frame that is no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. Additionally, it may not weigh more than 15 pounds.

Please Note: Framing is only required for the winning artwork that will be sent to Washington, D.C.

Art must be submitted to my District Office located at 4201 Long Beach Blvd., Suite 422, Long Beach CA 90807 by 5:00 p.m. TODAY, Friday, April 19, 2024.

Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution, and may not violate U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows:

·  Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.

·  Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (it is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed)

·  Collages: must be two dimensional

·  Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints

·  Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.

·  Computer-generated art

Additionally, each student is required to submit a typed copy of the Student Information and Release Form, signed by an art teacher, and a parent or guardian. This form must be securely attached to the back of the artwork to certify the originality of the piece.

To arrange a delivery of materials and collection of student artwork or if you have any further questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact Emilia Fergadiotti at 310-831-1799 or by email at [email protected].
