Hey friend,

Last year, in a fantastic culmination of three years of hard work, we pushed California to pass and sign into law two of the three bills from the globally impactful climate corporate accountability bill package: SB 253 and SB 261.

But the third in that package, SB 252, was tabled in committee last year. As the climate crisis worsens, we can’t afford to meet just two-thirds of our goals. We must pass SB 252 this year.

If signed into law, SB 252 would finally get rid of fossil fuel investments in the state’s public employee and teacher pension funds. This legislative session, we’re already ramping up our playbook of success to make sure it becomes law in 2024 —  from training constituents to lobby their legislators, to sending in more staff to put pressure on lawmakers in Sacramento, to connecting with the media and raising awareness for this bill.

Earth Day is only three days away, friend. Unless we meet our Earth Day Fund goal, our impact for advocating for bills like SB 252 will be limited, and we may even need to cut down the amount of climate bills we can push for.

Friend, as a celebration of Earth Day, a gift from you could guarantee that our big legislative goals become a reality. Please donate $20 or any amount to fund our proven playbook today >>

Beyond SB 252, there are so many groundbreaking bills coming up that I’m so excited to push for with you this year.

For one, Senate Bill 1497 authored by Senator Caroline Menjivar would make our state’s largest fossil fuel polluters pay their fair share for the damage they have caused to the climate and the communities of California. And another top priority bill, Assembly Bill 1176 authored by Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur, would bolster electrification in transportation and building systems.

As Earth Day approaches, I can’t help but think about the worldwide impacts these bills would have. We want to do everything we can to make sure every one of them becomes law in 2024, but the truth is, it takes a lot of work to get climate justice bills off the ground and we need resources in order to galvanize support and get them through the legislature

That’s where you come in, friend. A donation of just $20 could make a WORLD of difference in our level of impact.
