Cutting Taxes
|
As your state senator, one of my top priorities is keeping your taxes low.
That's why I supported measures to reduce Indiana's income-tax rate to 2.9% by tax year 2027.
Thanks to these cuts, Hoosiers are saving nearly $200 million on income taxes, which will grow even more in the coming years.
The General Assembly has also eliminated income taxes for active-duty military personnel and reduced federal income taxes for Hoosier small business by allowing them to qualify for federal deductions larger corporations already received.
These laws are responsible for putting millions of dollars back into the pockets of Hoosiers, but lawmakers will continue our work to find ways the state can reduce taxes even further through the State and Local Tax Review Task Force.

Local communities will receive nearly $9.9 million from the Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) Program, which was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016 and has awarded nearly $1.7 billion to improve local roads and bridges.
In Senate District 17, the following communities received grants.
- Gas City received $1,051,254.90
- Grant County received $1,483,961.20
- Huntington received $1,059,539.79
- Huntington County received $1,365,897.90
- Jonesboro received $249,575.25
- La Fontaine received $149,957.61
- Marion received $1.5 million
- Sweetser received $1,150,709.25
- Upland received $1,058,410.35
- Wabash County received $779,829.44
Safe and reliable roads and bridges are a priority in our communities. I'm glad Senate District 17 will have the opportunity to put these funds to good use to improve our infrastructure and I commend our local leaders for securing this funding.

Thank You, Indiana National Guard
|
Each day, I am grateful for the fifty brave men and women (pictured above) who volunteered for deployment in El Paso, Texas as a part of Operation Lone Star.
Thank you for protecting Hoosiers from illegal human trafficking and drug trafficking activity at the border.
