Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) have introduced the End Tax Breaks for Dark Money Act in hopes of restoring integrity in our political system by closing loopholes that have long allowed billionaires to funnel vast sums into dark money organizations without paying taxes. The End Tax Breaks for Dark Money Act would target the tax code's exemptions that have enabled the wealthiest individuals to exert significant influence over our democracy, all while avoiding up to $400 million in taxes on a single donation worth $1.6 billion.

It’s irrefutable that dark money has undermined the principles of equality and representation our nation was founded upon. That’s why we believe Congress must pass the End Tax Breaks for Dark Money Act and take down these corrupt networks of influence that threaten our democratic institutions.
