Dear John,
With so much discouraging news these days, I am thrilled to share with you this breaking story of one BIG victory for liberty over your Sunday coffee!
Last week Ukraine’s parliament finally passed a landmark bill to end the country’s moratorium on selling farmland, which—for the past 20 years—has prevented 7 million Ukrainians from fully exercising their private property rights.
For me, this victory is personal. Last year I got to know Viktor, the man you’ll see featured in our newest mini-documentary, part of our popular Poverty & Freedomshort film series. We were looking forward to celebrating in person with Viktor at Europe Liberty Forum in Kyiv, but we've postponed the event in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. So instead of traveling to Ukraine, you can experience Viktor's inspiring story through the power of video!
Viktor has deep roots in the fertile soil of Ukraine. In the post-Soviet era, his family’s farmland was returned to its proper owners, but then the government imposed what was supposed to be a temporary moratorium on land sales. Except it wasn’t temporary.
Watch Viktor’s story now and learn how he and Atlas Network partners in Ukraine fought the ban…and won! You can also read more about the story here.
Thank you for your help supporting Atlas Network partners as they champion the freedom of people like Viktor.
Best,
