 Friend, I’m reaching out to you today because I believe in preserving the values that make America great. As a former professional football player who has lived my American Dream, I am deeply bothered by the direction our country is headed, particularly the divisive rhetoric surrounding reparations. My story is one of perseverance and success, rooted in the legacy of my ancestors who overcame tremendous obstacles to achieve their dreams. Like my great-great-grandfather, Silas Burgess, who escaped slavery and became a successful entrepreneur. Now, politicians want to undermine the principles of hard work and self-reliance that have defined our nation for generations. They want to divide us along radical lines and promote a narrative of victimhood that undermines the progress our society has made. I didn’t earn slavery reparations - and I don’t want them. We cannot allow this divisive agenda to succeed. We must reject the false promises of reparations and focus on building a future where every American has the opportunity to achieve their dreams, regardless of background. Friend, do I have your support in standing against the reparations movement?
The truth is – the American Dream is alive and well for millions of Americans of ALL backgrounds. Despite the challenges we face, we have made incredible progress over the years, thanks to the ingenuity and determination of the American people.
