Folks – This weekend we went out to Lopez Island, one of the more remote communities in our district.

The San Juans don’t get a lot of visits from candidates running for office. With a population of only 3,100 there aren’t that many votes to chase on Lopez Island.

But the island communities have always been important to our campaign. WA-02 has one of the most extensive coastlines of any single district in the lower 48. These areas are extremely vulnerable to the climate crisis – and our island communities are on the front lines.

It’s important to me that I hear their concerns, and it’s important that they know how our congressman’s conduct has repeatedly put their community at risk.

We had a great turnout for this visit, and some hard conversations. I look forward to building on this to earn their votes.

A collage of 3 photos. On the top, a wide angle photo showing Jason Call speaking with a group of supporters gathered in an auditorium. On the bottom left, a photo of the sign outside the event center showing Jason’s scheduled appearance at 1pm April 14th. On the bottom right, another angle showing the crowd gathered around to hear Jason.

This week was also the filing deadline for the FEC. Looking at the people who have submitted a fundraising report so far, this is shaping up to be a very crowded race (even with one or two names missing).

That’s really good news for us.

Washington’s Top Two primary system means that the top two vote getters advance to the general election. I ran as a Democrat in the last two elections, and we came within striking distance of winning the primary both times.

With tens of thousands of votes, we proved that Larsen is vulnerable. Now multiple Democrats are piling into the race to challenge him.

But none of those candidates have spent the years organizing in this community that I have. None of them have the name recognition, or the volunteer base and party support that I now get by running as a Green candidate.

My opponent is a former lobbyist who’s been holding this progressive, coastal district hostage to his fossil fuel agenda for 23 years. He’s been on the take with Big Oil since the day he set foot into office, and our communities are paying the price.

I’m a lifelong climate activist who doesn’t take a dime of corporate PAC money, and I’m ready to start raising hell for climate action in Congress.

This district, this year, is our BEST chance to get a Green Party member elected to Congress in a generation. Don’t let this chance pass us by.

In solidarity,

Jason Call
