John:
Trump-appointed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is “aggressively” implementing a 10-year plan at the United States Post Service that will slash jobs, close sorting centers and eventually lead to his and Donald Trump’s ultimate goal: privatization.
We all remember when DeJoy slowed the mail as soon as he took the reins. Mail is slower today than it was in 2020 because DeJoy degraded service standards. Now, in places like Virginia, Houston, and Atlanta, we’re getting a preview of how disastrous DeJoy’s plans really are.
With nearly half of the votes cast by mail in 2020 and over a third in 2022, now is not the time for added slowdowns from network consolidations. The 2024 election is rapidly approaching, yet DeJoy hasn’t announced any safeguards to protect vote by mail -- while continuing to march full steam ahead with his privatization plan.

Senator Gary Peters, Chairman of Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee which oversees the USPS, recently demanded answers from DeJoy, concerned that the USPS’s network changes would cause “delayed delivery of election mail.”
Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez-Masto of Nevada were even more explicit about the risks of diverting mail outside of the state and back again as part of DeJoy’s consolidation plan. Specifically they wrote that “ sending over one hundred thousand mailing ballots from Nevada to California before they are sent back to Northern Nevada is extremely concerning to election officials in the state ."
And finally, Senator Bernie Sanders and 20 other Senators have also expressed concern that “ in many instances, outgoing mail processing will move hundreds of miles to a regional facility, outside reasonable commuting distance and, in some cases, to another state entirely .” It all adds up to “significant concerns about the timely delivery” of prescription medication, local mail, and mail-in ballots.
The response from Postmaster Louis DeJoy? Silence .
Yet, every day these questions go unanswered, DeJoy continues to implement his privatization plan and put voting by mail in 2024 at risk.

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
