Scapegoating Businesses for Illegal Immigration is Back in Vogue - With immigration a pillar of the presidential election this year, states such as Arizona, Iowa, and West Virginia have bills pending in their state houses that would hold business owners accountable for hiring the undocumented. As with previous attempts to use employers as a cudgel against federal immigration policy failures, the plans rest on a federal system called E-Verify. It’s one more example of states resorting to half-baked solutions in desperation because Congress steadfastly refuses to pass immigration policy reform.

Sen. Cruz Applauds Major Investment in Texas Semiconductor Industry - U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, commended Samsung for securing up to $6.4 billion in federal funding towards their Taylor and Austin, Texas semiconductor manufacturing facilities. The award is expected to create over 20,000 jobs in the area.

Cornyn Slams Biden’s Weakness on Iran After Attack on Israel - On the floor, U.S. Senator John Cornyn laid bare President Biden’s weak response to Iran’s attack on Israel and discussed the need for Congress to act to support its strongest ally in the Middle East. "Congress needs to take action soon to provide Israel with the military aid it needs to defend its sovereignty. It was last November – less than a month after the October 7 attack – that the House actually passed a $14 billion aid bill for Israel. But regrettably, the Majority Leader refused to even put that bill on the Senate floor. We need to take action as soon as possible to provide Israel with the material support it needs to defend its democracy and not place handcuffs on their ability to establish deterrence against the Iranian regime,” said Cornyn.
