The THIRD poll in a row is showing Governor Larry Hogan leading both of his potential opponents in the general election match-up, according to a new Sun/Fox45/UB poll released this morning!
The outpouring of support for Governor Hogan and this campaign shows that our momentum is building. Marylanders are sick of the same old partisanship and division in Washington and Annapolis, and they know that Governor Hogan is in the race for the U.S. Senate to get to work for THEM, not to get the fancy title.
We aren’t taking anything for granted, though. We still have a long way to go until Election Day, and Governor Hogan’s opponents are breaking the bank to take down this campaign.
This election is going to be one for the history books. One of Governor Hogan’s opponents made history this week by smashing the spending records for self-funders! According to new FEC reports, he just dropped another $18.5 million into his Senate campaign, bringing his total self-contributions to over $40 million!
He is now officially the biggest self-funder of a Senate primary in AMERICAN HISTORY.
Yes, you read that right.
This is what we’re stacked up against. While we’ve had a strong start in Q1, Governor Hogan remains the financial underdog in this race. It’s why we cannot let up for even a second even after seeing polling results as great as this.
Governor Hogan himself said it best as he looked back on the Back to Work Bus Tour that just concluded over the weekend:
“Over the course of our bus tour, I had the opportunity to speak with Marylanders from all over the state and from all walks of life. People are completely fed up with politics as usual and are ready to send a message to Washington.
But make no mistake, we are the underdog in this race. With the establishment lined up against us, we can’t take anything for granted. Nobody will outwork us. They were expecting a coronation–but what they are going to get is the fight of their lives.”

When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
