Don't make it easy for people to live on the streets.

Vagrants steal public spaces for private use. Dallas City Council
members ignore the vagrancy problem.

Bureaucratic Failures, OHS Ignores Homeless Crisis

Keep Dallas Safe (KDS) recently discovered a homeless encampment that
has become a major problem for residents in City Council District 2,
represented by Jesse Moreno.
[link removed] The 311 reports
cite stolen Amazon packages, car break-ins, and even burglaries.

The encampment can be found just off Denton Drive near Cedar Branch
Creek. Residents are fed up, and the Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS)
has provided no reprieve. OHS makes it easy for these criminals to
remain on the streets.

[link removed] We visited the
camp a couple of weeks ago; the vagrants were allegedly told they had
until Wednesday, April 10th, to leave. As of April 16th, they are still
there, trashing the creek bed and stealing residents' packages.

OHS has marked the 311 reports for this area as “closed,” yet no action
has been taken. The residents of this neighborhood cannot go for walks
without fear for their safety. Vagrants are reportedly even digging in
residential dumpsters.

The vagrancy crisis has become too big to ignore! Contact your City
Council Member today and let them know that you are FED UP with the lack
of enforcement of City code that bans these "urban camps." The status
quo is not a compassionate solution. Making Dallas safer means holding
criminals accountable. It is the only way forward for Dallas!

Chief Garcia: Lull in Violent Crime ‘Not a Touchdown Dance'

Statistical manipulation through omissions will not save DPD from
Dallas's crime crisis. With more murders at this point in the year than
in 2020, DPD’s staffing shortage is putting officers and residents at
major risk. Chief Garcia must continue his push to the Council to
increase funding for DPD.

Mayor Johnson Rages Against Corrupt Broadnax Payout

It is unbelievable that Broadnax is receiving such large payouts from
Dallas as he exits the City under nefarious circumstances. Mayor Johnson
is rightly calling out the corruption as he sees it! Broadnax is leaving
Dallas out to dry and getting rich off the taxpayer's dime to boot!

Two Teens Injured in Shooting in East Oak Cliff

Chronic police understaffing must be fixed if we want to make these
crimes unthinkable. These stories don’t have to be normal for Dallas.
It’s time for a new normal! Contact your Council Members and tell them
to fund DPD fully and have competitive wages to solve the staffing
crisis.

Tracking Illegal Camps:

[link removed] Executive Director Joseph Porter broadcasts
on Facebook Live each week, documenting vagrant camps in the city and
bringing you real-time updates on the state of homelessness and the
apathetic response from Dallas city officials. This week, we went live
from the Cedar Branch and Denton Drive encampment to show how much the
vagrants have laid waste to the surrounding area.

 District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno

"Cityview Underpass Camp"

This camp in Jesse Moreno’s District 2 has been dubbed “Cityview
Underpass Camp.” This camp is located at the intersection of I-30 and
I-35 and we spotted it while sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic. From
here, the vagrant has a great view of the city but the highway noise
must ruin it. Vagrants must not camp in these places for their own
safety.

 District 7 Councilman Adam Bazaldua

"Oak Cliff Scourge Camp"

We named this camp in Adam Bazaldua’s District 7, “Oak Cliff Scourge
Camp.” This camp is yet another example of what makes this neighborhood
so dangerous. Vagrants are allowed to remain here as the City refuses to
take any action. City leaders must face facts. These are not "homeless
camps," they're government-sponsored slums.

District 13 Councilwoman Gay Donnell Willis

"U-Haul Camp"

We named this camp in Gay Donnell Willis’s District 13, “U-Haul Camp.”
This camp is found just off Highway 121, with 5-10 tents set up directly
behind the nearby U-haul. U-haul is likely suffering as a business due
to the clear and present danger seen in their backyard. Attempts by OHS
to “decommission” this camp have completely failed. City leaders must
realize that the system is broken!

Statement:

Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with
the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for
residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes
crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We
do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding
accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime
rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for
enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
