Social Determinants Of Perinatal Mental Illness

In the April Perinatal Mental Health & Well-Being issue ([link removed] ) , Bridgette Blebu and coauthors conduct a latent class analysis to identify subgroups of co-occurring social determinants of health ([link removed] ) among prenatal clients with perinatal anxiety and depression or serious mental illness.

The researchers found that intimate partner violence, housing instability, history of substance use, and low social support were the most commonly reported social determinants that had negative impacts on survey respondents.

They conclude by calling for integrated social determinants and perinatal mental health screening and support services.

For more about the paper's finding, revisit Bridgette Blebu ([link removed] ) 's presentation ([link removed] ) from our theme issue briefing.
