John – Wiley Nickel here. I ran for Congress in 2022 because I wanted a better future for my kids and everyone living in North Carolina’s 13th District.

I ran to protect women’s reproductive rights, stand up for our environment, and fight for our democracy after the insurrection on January 6, 2021.

While Republican gerrymandering means I can’t run to represent this district in Congress again, my commitment is far from over.

Democrats are running at every level in North Carolina and across the US who need our support. I’m doing everything I can to get them elected.

But this important work can’t be done alone. We must work together to elect Democrats up and down the ballot because the fate of our country will lie in their hands.

We saw what happened when far-right Republicans have power in North Carolina: they gerrymander our districts, pick and choose who they’d like to represent, and do all they can to suppress voters across the state. That’s why this is so important. At this moment in time. Right here. Right now.
