Public lands are essential to our health, climate, and livelihood. They provide connectivity corridors and habitats for wildlife, allow for natural carbon sequestration, source clean water and air for local communities, and create access to nature. The Biden administration has taken critical actions to protect lands and must continue to do more, including acting to protect mature and old-growth forests, one of our best climate solutions.
Moreover, these lands are traditional homelands of Indigenous people and include thousands of cultural and historic resources. They are stories and legacies of Indigenous stewardship, family, and cultural traditions that span generations.
This victory would have never happened without the advocacy of changemakers like you, friend! Last year, tens of thousands of people acted to urge the BLM to stop favoring fossil fuel extraction on public land. Of the comments submitted, 92 percent supported this new administrative rule uplifting wildlife, climate, and water protections in land management.
As a child who was taught to live with a keen awareness of the ecosystem around her, I developed a strong understanding of the importance of protecting public lands for future generations. That's why it's so important and exciting to see this administration protecting our heritage, lands, and waters and maintaining a robust outdoor recreation economy.
Speak up now to share your love for public lands protections and push for even stronger action.
Thank you for being a part of the movement to build a more livable future.
