PROTECT OUR SAN DIEGO ENVIRONMENT
Help us celebrate Earth Week! This Saturday is the ‘I Love a Clean San Diego’ Creek to Bay Cleanup, and there is still time to volunteer. Clean-up sites are countywide, but you can find D1 staff keeping it local at Rose Creek—join us!
SD IN DC
This week, I met with the U.S. State Department about the Tijuana River Valley pollution emergency, the Housing and Urban Development Department on homelessness solutions, the U.S. Navy about critical infrastructure, and the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration on the LOSSAN Corridor. San Diego is far from the U.S. Capitol, but with the support of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, our needs are heard, and partnerships are born.
KEEPING OUR CITY CLEAN
Our Environmental Services Department provides Community Clean-Up events throughout the city, including bulky item pick-ups in 21 different D1 neighborhoods. Thank you, residents and ESD, for keeping our city clean and protecting our environment!
CELEBRATING 70 YEARS
April marks 70 years since the dedication of the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial, located in D1. It is a cherished space for military families and visitors to honor the men and women who sacrificed for our country. I was proud to recognize the memorial and the Mt. Soledad Memorial Association with a proclamation in celebration of this momentous anniversary.
#TEAMLACAVA IN THE DISTRICT
Team LaCava was invited to a 'We See You' dinner. 'We See You' is not a soup kitchen. It is a weekly homecooked meal served restaurant style with live music, birthday celebrations, and personal shopping to create an environment with dignity, hope, and pathways for our unhoused population.
