John, it's Sen. Angus King,
Free and fair elections are essential to America’s democratic process – and our founding principles. But recently, we’ve watched as states across the country work to restrict access to the ballot for partisan reasons – to maintain the status quo. That’s why I’m proud to join my colleague Sen. Jon Ossoff in co-sponsoring the historic Right to Vote Act .
The Right to Vote Act would be a historic federal law that enshrines the right to vote in federal elections. It also opens a legal avenue for U.S. citizens to challenge laws that make it harder to vote.
Protecting the right to vote has been one of my top priorities in the Senate, and the Right to Vote Act is just the most recent example. I’ve also:
 *
   Introduced
   the
   Freedom
   to
   Vote
   Act
   to
   end
   partisan
   gerrymandering,
   take
   on
   dark
   money
   in
   our
   elections,
   and
   establish
   national
   standards
   for
   voting
   rights.
 *
   Crafted
   a
   discussion
   draft
   to
   reform
   the
   Electoral
   Count
   Act
   after
   the
   2020
   election,
   which
   spurred
   discussions
   that
   led
   to
   the
   Electoral
   Count
   Modernization
   Act
   to
   formalize
   and
   clarify
   the
   process
   for
   certifying
   presidential
   elections.
As our democracy faces increased threats, from states restricting or reducing polling locations to politicians abusing their power to certify elections, we all must come together to protect our most fundamental right to self-governance. I’m going to keep fighting, but I need you with me, John. If you support my work in the Senate to pass stronger voting rights laws, will you chip in a donation of $ today to my reelection campaign? There is nothing more important to Senator King than doing right by the people of Maine. This means fighting on their behalf for the issues that matter most, whether that’s health care, national security, veterans, education, economic certainty, the environment or job creation. Throughout his decades of public service, he has worked tirelessly to build relationships and improve opportunities for all Maine people, from Kittery to Fort Kent.
