Listen, the Supreme Court justices didn't seem overly enthusiastic about the concept of limiting the FDA's ability to approve new drugs during the hearing, whether for abortion or otherwise. Reportedly Justice Alito was the only justice who was openly receptive to the plaintiff's restrictive argument.
But a lot of the news speculation afterwards was about a " narrow ruling " that unites most of the bench together... and we know that's code for " we're going to halt or reverse the FDA on abortion medicine but not other drugs ." Which means the GOP would still be restricting our rights through the courts in a way they could never restrict them with legislation in Congress.
John: This is another moment where we need to rally, organize, and fight! RUSH $25 or more right now to help reverse the conservative trend in our courts >>> [[link removed]]
CNN: Supreme Court to decide whether to restrict abortion drug nationwide [[link removed]]
When we talk about the GOP using the courts to get around legislatures, John, this is one of the best recent examples .
MAGA Republicans couldn't pass any restrictions on the FDA or the use of mifepristone in Congress , so they started a federal court case against its use in Texas, where they knew they had a bunch of Trump-appointed judges.
Then the decision in Texas was appealed to a federal appeals court, where severe new restrictions were just placed on the medication and on the FDA in a majority decision written by judges appointed by George W. Bush and Donald Trump .
Now this case -- which " seeks to remove abortion pills entirely from the market " -- was heard in the Supreme Court for the final word on these severe restrictions.
And before you think this is just about abortion rights, think about the precedent these cases are setting: The result is " calling into question the F.D.A.’s regulatory authority over other drugs ."
John: We can't let the GOP scheme their way to victory in the courts. Pitch in $25 or whatever you can to today to help put more progressives on state and federal courts to protect our rights >>> [[link removed]]

In the wake of Donald Trump's presidency, we've seen hard-right judges stacked on the Supreme Court, federal courts, and state courts across the country, delivering devastating rulings that have weakened voting rights, gun reforms, climate protections, and completely overturned abortion rights.
We must fight back and put more Democrats on the courts. [[link removed]]
The Senate is the only body which can confirm federal judges and as such, Democratic control of the Senate is crucial to shaping judicial appointments. We must ensure the Senate stays in Democratic hands in 2024.
And in the states, we must pour resources into often highly contested judicial races that get little attention, but that have a wide influence on the daily lives of Americans.
Progress Courts PAC is working every day to hold the Senate and help elect progressive judges across the country, and we need your help.
