Why we are 350: Scientists overwhelmingly agree that 350ppm CO2 is the upper limit to sustain life as humans have lived it. For more than 800,000 years atmospheric CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm.

   Earth passed 350ppm CO2 during 1988!

Why Climate Justice Now?
Stephanie Janeth Salgado Altamirano

Please join us on Monday, May 6, to hear 350 Wisconsin Board member Stephanie Janeth Salgado Altamirano share her passion for promoting climate justice and the voice of youth.

Stephanie will bring us her compelling personal story and a fresh perspective on why our work is so urgent and vital today. She will share her experience as a young immigrant of color working on climate justice activism and explain what that experience can teach us about climate work in Wisconsin and beyond.

WHAT: 350 Wisconsin May Monthly Meeting
WHEN: Monday, May 6, 2024
ONLINE VIA ZOOM: Register in advance for the meeting
here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting via computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Stephanie moved to Madison, Wisconsin, in 2015.

Awareness of the interaction of systems of oppression led her to embrace climate justice activism and found the Memorial High School Green Club, which helped organize the 2019 Madison Climate Strike. Stephanie was subsequently invited to join the Wisconsin Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change.

Stephanie now works as the Madison Community Organizer for Voces de la Frontera, an organization committed to intersectional understanding and environmental justice. We are excited to have Stephanie serving as a member of the 350 Wisconsin Board.
