My name is John. It’s so nice to meet you. I’ve never emailed you before, but I am a part of Live Action’s community of Life Defenders, people who donate each month to save lives and end abortion. I want to share with you why I am a part of this community.
My wife and I believe with our whole hearts that every baby from the moment of fertilization is a child of God. That’s why I became a Life Defender ([link removed] ) in 2021 to rescue innocent children from abortion and build a culture of life. I haven’t looked back since.
However, I want to share another - more personal - reason for our monthly support.
In 1980, while out to dinner for our third wedding anniversary, my wife went into premature labor. Our preborn child was less than 20 weeks along and the doctor told us that there was no way to stop the delivery.
There was no chance of our baby’s survival. My wife delivered Mary Elizabeth and we heard her little cry. Our hearts broke.
My wife was heavily medicated, so the nurses brought me into the next room and asked if I would like to hold our daughter. I said I did, not realizing that she had already passed away.
She was so tiny, but was perfectly formed and looked so peaceful.
We had a funeral and she was buried with my parents. She would be 43 years old now.
We don’t have her with us, but we know we have an angel with God who watches over us.
As I look back on the agony we both experienced - which we seldom share with anyone, even our other three children - I just cannot fathom how anyone can support killing a child at any stage of development. When I think of it, I picture Mary Elizabeth, and the tears well up. We would give anything to have her here with us.
So I pray for preborn babies, and my wife and I contribute monthly to Live Action. I am encouraged knowing a gift of just $15 monthly is enough to change over 210 minds against abortion every single month and can save innocent children from slaughter year-round.
