John,
I know you've seen the headlines and heard the speeches - you know that this election is essential for LGBTQ+ rights. But that isn't the only thing on the ballot: our democracy is at stake too.
All too often, those ready to rollback equality are the same people ready to question the foundations of our democracy. As they pass legislation targeting trans kids or drag queens, they're also questioning the validity of our election results or the viability of our candidates. These people want to limit who can participate in our government - and who can make the laws we all must live under.
Enough is enough. This year, Victory Fund is pushing back against hate by electing candidates who are not only ready to defend LGBTQ+ freedoms, but who are dedicated to public service. If you're ready to defend inclusive democracy in 2024, add your name here!
Together, we will bring more LGBTQ+ voices to the halls of political power. Right now, there aren't enough of us in government. We see the consequences every time an anti-LGBTQ bill is passed, when our rights are once again debated on the floor.
But we also know also that when one LGBTQ+ voice is heard, it inspires so many more. One historic first leads to another, then another. When LGBTQ+ people believe that our democracy and political landscape supports them, they see themselves as part of it. They literally change the hearts and minds of their colleagues, their voters - and yes, even sometimes, those who want to harm the LGBTQ+ community. Our candidates help democracy flourish, when so many aim to tear it down.
{Salutation or 'Friend'}}, we're ready to shape our government for the better. If you're in, add your name and pledge to support LGBTQ+ candidates who will move our country forward. Take the pledge and stand up for democracy!
Thank you,
Sean Meloy
