celebration.  

The Inflation Reduction Act was a massive accomplishment, and we need to
make sure people all across the country know what new programs they may
have access to and just how big of an impact it’s having on their local
communities.

That’s why one of the focuses of this celebration is community tabling. 

Community tabling is a great way to meet neighbors and get the information
to the masses. You can create your own tabling-specific event or tag onto
an existing one (think: farmers market, grocery store, local festival).
Either way, it’s a flexible option for folks to share with a broad section
of the community on their terms.

Don’t forget, for tabling you can get:

in August, but why should we wait to celebrate and promote its
accomplishments?

Why are we still celebrating the IRA?

In short, because it’s still a big deal! And while we have made an impact,
[ [link removed] ]polling from last fall shows that 41% of registered voters haven’t
heard anything about the IRA and 22% have only heard a little. But, among
people who do know about it, [ [link removed] ]it’s very popular.

A major goal of Powering Progress is to help people understand the role of
the federal government. For a lot of people, the only thing they hear
about the government is what’s going wrong. Showing them what this bill
has accomplished disrupts that narrative and increases support for an
active and inclusive government.

Let’s remind people that, with their support, it is possible to have a
government that works for them.

 

What's a Movement Moment?

Oftentimes, we’ll host a week of action, an event, or a call to action
to activate our network of incredible activists. These are great. They
provide direct, actionable occasions for our members to participate at a
specific time. 

What if your community has an IRA-funded project beginning in three
weeks?
What if you have an idea to take advantage of a holiday next month?
What if you just need a little extra time to plan?

Well, that’s why we’re running a Movement Moment. 

This time around, we’re going for a broader reach. Spring is a time for
celebrating new beginnings. While the weather gets warmer and flowers
bloom, it’s time to pollinate a larger field.

Throughout April and all the way through May, we will be supporting
Indivisibles across the country as they host events hyping up the
Inflation Reduction Act. This gives you the time to plan, the
flexibility to execute, and the freedom to dream up some incredible
events.

 

So, what are we doing?

* [ [link removed] ]Host a community tabling event where you set up in a high traffic
area and drive conversation about the IRA. 
* Go talk to some new, ideologically-aligned members of your community
with our new [ [link removed] ]Neighbor2Neighbor tool (available April 9).
* Host an LTE party with your community where you all write about the
incredible impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act in your lives.

You have the power to decide what your events look like, but we are here
to support you! That support can look like:

* [ [link removed] ]Event-in-a-box supplies for a tabling event (available for the
first 25 requests) 
* [ [link removed] ]A social media toolkit for all of your campaign and event hype
needs

There are so many great ways to be a part of this campaign. But, no matter
how you take advantage of this Movement Moment, [ [link removed] ]remember to register
your event with us so that you can make sure to qualify for reimbursements
and swag.

One more time, just what did the IRA do?

The Inflation Reduction Act was a signature piece of legislation passed in
2022.

If you want to get really nerdy, there are a [ [link removed] ]ton of resources
[ [link removed] ]where you can dive deep into [ [link removed] ]how the IRA works [ [link removed] ]for the
American people. But you don’t need to know all the ins and outs, just the
key investments and projects that will keep making our lives better in the
coming years.

But here are some quick hits:

IRA Highlights

* [ [link removed] ]Approximately 9 million jobs created over the next 10 years
* Homeowners can take advantage of discounts to reduce the costs of
making their homes more energy efficient
* 1.5 million people will save hundreds of dollars every year due to
the [ [link removed] ]$35 cap on the price of insulin for Medicare
* [ [link removed] ]Reduced premiums by up to $800 for people who buy insurance on
their own
* Modernizing and weatherizing the electrical grid
* Since August of 2022, companies have [ [link removed] ]broken ground on more than
500 new projects (PDF) that will bring clean energy and new jobs to
communities across the country 

And that’s just a small taste of the benefits of the Inflation Reduction
Act.

As winter begins to thaw for Americans across the country, what better way
to celebrate than to get out in your community and spread the news of how
our government is working for them. 

If that sounds nerdy (it kind of is 😊), don’t forget that every person you
inform about the IRA has the potential to save hundreds of dollars
annually. It’s not just enough for the government to create great programs
if no one knows enough about them to take advantage. This is your chance
to help your community.
