Migrant families need a voice in Congress. As the child of Jamaican immigrants, this is an issue that’s very near to my heart.
Part of my work has been pushing for comprehensive immigration reform and protections for DACA and TPS recipients. Our immigrant families and neighbors are facing a wave of attacks from the far right, and we need to elect immigration champions to Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
This is not just an immigration issue, it’s a racial justice issue. 1-in-10 Black people in America are immigrants according to the Pew Research Center.
I am a staunch supporter of H.R. 2, the U.S. Citizenship Act: a bold, inclusive, and humane vision for the future of the U.S. immigration system.
My goal as a legislator has always been to lead with empathy and compassion, and that means for ALL of us in America.
