Right now, it's more important than ever for us to look out for those around us.
That starts with following guidelines put forth by public health experts to protect ourselves and others -- including practicing social distancing, washing our hands frequently, and exercising extra caution around individuals who are most at risk from COVID-19, such as the elderly and immuno-compromised.
But it doesn't end there. Too many Americans are in real need as our nation confronts the social and economic upheaval of the coronavirus.
If you're looking for opportunities to help those in our community who need it most, here's just a few ways for you to get involved:
The Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund is raising funds to help local community foundations and nonprofit organizations across the state support individuals in need of emergency food and supplies, housing and shelter, health care, and other crucial services. Serve Illinois is working to directly connect volunteers with local organizations based on their needs! Visit [link removed] to register and view in-person and virtual service opportunities!
Blood drives are being cancelled across the country in response to the coronavirus outbreak which has led to a severe blood shortage. Red Cross America is encouraging healthy, eligible individuals to donate blood. Visit www.redcross.org to find a blood drive or volunteer.
Team Casten is working remotely for now -- but we'll be calling IL-06 residents to check in with them personally during these difficult times. Click here to sign up and join us in reaching out to your neighbors >> [link removed]
We're so proud to see Illinoisans stepping up when it's needed most. We're all in this together.
Stay safe,
Team Casten
