In 2016, the last time a Missouri U.S. Senate race and presidential election happened at the same time, more than 200,000 split-ticket voters brought labor-backed veteran Jason Kander just 2.7% away from defeating a GOP incumbent and flipping Missouri’s Senate seat.
Since then, Missourians have voted overwhelmingly to take back their power at the ballot box by raising the minimum wage, expanding healthcare, rejecting an anti-union “Right-to-Work” law, and legalizing weed.
But this year, we’re facing the most important election of our lifetimes.
From his actions on January 6 to his repeated attacks on reproductive freedom, Josh Hawley has shown people in Missouri that he is a fraud, a coward, and a threat to our democracy — and they are paying attention.
Republicans and Democrats across Missouri agree that our state — and our country — deserve better than Josh Hawley. Even his own former mentor, three-term GOP U.S. Senator Jack Danforth, said that supporting Hawley’s original run for Senate in 2018 was “the worst decision [he’s] ever made in [his] life.”
And that’s why this race is now a complete toss-up. Multiple polls have confirmed that Hawley is neck-and-neck with Lucas Kunce for Missouri’s U.S. Senate seat.
This race is absolutely critical — for Missouri, and for the entire country.
