VIDEO OF THE DAY: Fed-up judge warns Trump at trial in stunning rebuke
Trump's antics during jury selection sparked a harsh response from Judge Merchan, who clearly has run out of patience with the disgraced ex-president and his penchant for bullying those who stand against him.

Second House Republican joins far-right effort to oust Mike Johnson
Extremist firestarter Marjorie Taylor Greene was joined by village idiot Thomas Massie in the push to remove Mike Johnson from the speakership, ostensibly over trying to send aid to Ukraine. “[Johnson] should pre-announce his resignation (as Boehner did), so we can pick a new Speaker without ever being without a GOP Speaker,” wrote Massie on nüTwitter, which was not well received by his colleagues, who are at this point extremely tired of MTG's bullshit. Several Democrats, including Jared Moskowitz, have already said they will come to Johnson's defense purely out of spite. A few days ago, Moskowitz told CNN that he was “never going to allow Marjorie Taylor Greene to stand in the well of the people’s house and give a speech to remove a Speaker, which then would elevate her, power-wise, in the House.” Finally, something that can truly bring America together: an unbridled loathing of Marjorie Taylor Greene.

McConnell plots to use election-denier to retake Senate
Ruben Gallego for Senate: Mitch McConnell will stop at nothing to retake the Senate, even if that means giving power to one of the most radical of Trump’s election-denying, democracy-threatening acolytes, Kari Lake. Her election lies helped spark the mob attack on January 6th and has even called for gun violence if Trump gets convicted of his crimes. This November, she'll be running against star Democratic Congressman Ruben Gallego, and it's on all of us to help Ruben ensure that Kari Lake never sees the inside of the Senate. Will you chip in to protect our Senate majority and elect Ruben Gallego?
MAGA Sen. Tom Cotton calls for vigilante violence against protestors
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton turned up the fascism on Tuesday by openly calling for people to "take matters into their own hands" against protestors while sharing a video of a man exiting his car and forcibly dragging pro-Palestinian protestors by the neck in order to clear a blocked road. MSNBC's Chris Hayes put it best when he denounced Cotton on his show, saying that “even by the debased standards of our day, this is just crazy, explicit incitement to violence by a sitting US senator.” Indeed, it instantly recalls the murder of antifascist protestor Heather Heyer by a white supremacist during the Charlottesville "Unite the Right" hate rally and the NYPD driving their SUVs into a crowd of protestors during the George Floyd protests in 2020. To Republicans, our right to peaceful protest is a direct threat to their agenda and our lives are worth less than the minor inconvenience of sitting in traffic for a bit.

Appeals court overturns West Virginia law banning transgender girls from sports teams
In a huge win for trans rights, the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Republican Gov. Jim Justice's cruel efforts to bully thirteen-year-old Becky Pepper Jackson violated Title IX. The judges rightfully pointed out that forcing Jackson to play on boys' teams was "no choice at all...the defendants cannot expect that B.P.J. will countermand her social transition, her medical treatment, and all the work she has done with her schools, teachers, and coaches for nearly half her life by introducing herself to teammates, coaches, and even opponents as a boy." An Ohio judge followed suit by blocking the state's ban on gender-affirming care for minors, marking Tuesday a rare day of big wins for trans Americans in the face of unrelenting Republican bigotry and anti-trans hysteria.

NPR suspends veteran editor as it grapples with his public criticism
NPR has formally punished Uri Berliner, the senior editor who publicly argued a week ago that the network had "lost America's trust" by being too woke and approaching news stories with a rigidly progressive mindset. Berliner got himself into trouble by writing an essay for the ironically named "Free Press," a right-wing propaganda outlet home to high-profile pseudointellectual nimrods and self-proclaimed victims of cancel culture. Berliner's essay prompted a sharp backlash from his colleagues, who did not appreciate his disparagement of their objectivity or the full-blown, right-wing smear attack against NPR's new chief executive, Katherine Maher.
USC cancels Muslim student's valedictorian speech over safety concerns
The University of Southern California says Asna Tabassum will no longer speak at the ceremony after the discussion about her selection took on "an alarming tenor" due to her vocal support for the Palestinian people on social media. Tabassum was told that the school could not maintain an appropriate level of security if she spoke at the commencement ceremony due to the volume of security threats and harassment from pro-Israel critics. "Although this should have been a time of celebration for my family, friends, professors, and classmates, anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian voices have subjected me to a campaign of racist hatred because of my uncompromising belief in human rights for all," wrote Tabussum in a statement. "I am both shocked by this decision and profoundly disappointed that the University is succumbing to a campaign of hate meant to silence my voice. I am not surprised by those who attempt to propagate hatred. I am surprised that my own university — my home for four years — has abandoned me.” It's a grim reminder of how deeply rooted Islamophobia remains in American society, and how much hostility can be provoked by simply standing up for Palestinian human rights.

Verified pro-Nazi X accounts flourish under Elon Musk
If you haven't spent much time on nüTwitter lately, you would be absolutely shocked at how many openly, full-blown, capital "N" Sieg-heiling Nazi accounts there suddenly are — and thanks to Elon's pay-for-play blue-check system, they're being boosted straight into everybody's feeds. During one seven-day period in March, seven of the most widely shared pro-Nazi posts on X accrued 4.5 million views in total. One post with 1.9 million views promoted a false and long-debunked conspiracy theory that six million Jews did not die in the Holocaust. All of this in violation of Twitter's supposed rules, of course. But judging from Musk's own fondness for posting disgusting white supremacist propaganda, it's not hard to see why this filth is flourishing.
13 killed, including 7 children, after alleged Israeli missile strike on playground
At least 13 people were killed, including seven children, and more than 25 injured after a strike targeted the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza on Tuesday, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital officials. Al-Jazeera reports that the missile hit a playground full of kids. “This is my oldest daughter…her name is Lujain, she is nine years old. A strike hit them while they were playing out in the street. They are all just children,” mourned a grieving father. “I immediately walked to see what happened and found dead bodies thrown on the ground. People screaming, kids screaming. Kids dead on the ground. They were just playing foosball, and they were martyred,” said CNN eyewitness Nihad Owdetallah. The United States House is soon to hold a vote to send more weapons to Israel, which has killed nearly 34,000 people since the war began.
Walmart to fork out up to $45 million after settling food-overcharging lawsuit
Well, well, well, if it isn't one of the nation's biggest grocers literally stealing from their customers. Walmart has been accused of falsely inflating the weight of certain grocery items, mislabeling the weight of bagged produce and overcharging for sold-by-weight clearance products. In that really cool way that America handles all corporate malfeasance, Walmart will pay $45 million but accept no responsibility for scamming their own customer base.
Police found arsenal at home of California man who ranted that hospital favored non-whites and threatened staff
Law enforcement discovered 230 firearms, 11,000 rounds of ammunition, 46 grenades, 22 silencers, and other weaponry in the Richmond, California, home of Lawrence Hansen, 68. The search was prompted by the man's complaints that a local hospital allegedly gave poor treatment to white people. Hansen reportedly threatened a doctor at the hospital over the matter, telling him that he "hoped he had a bulletproof vest" and joked about beating up another doctor to steal his wedding ring. After a restraining order was taken out by the hospital, law enforcement moved to seize Hansen's guns — and found enough to outfit a small army. It is patently absurd that one man is allowed to own this many firearms, and the whole story is a sharp reminder of how important it is to have red flag laws. God only knows what this man could have done with all these weapons.
