ADA National Network Learning Session: "Access to Medical Care & Medical Diagnostic Equipment Best Practices for People with Disabilities"

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) covers doctors' offices, medical clinics, and other healthcare facilities. These facilities must be accessible to patients with disabilities.
This training will discuss how to design and create accessible medical spaces. Also, the Access Board has published a final standard about access to medical diagnostic equipment (MDE) for people with disabilities. These standards are for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The presenter will discuss the requirements for diagnostic equipment, including transfer and other mobility aids.

Presenters:
Bobby Stinnette is an Accessibility Specialist at the US Access Board, providing technical guidance for design criteria to various stakeholders. Bobby?s focus at the Access Board is on medical diagnostic equipment and healthcare accessibility. He has given many presentations to students, advocates, and professionals on accessibility issues and guidelines. He earned a bachelor?s degree in Human Development from Howard University, a master?s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Michigan University, and a certificate in Trauma Studies.
He has over fifteen years of experience coordinating a wide range of rehabilitation, counseling, and case management services focused on supporting disabled veterans and increasing access to mental health services. He is a licensed professional counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and an advocate for disability rights.
