Dear Friend – 

The State House recently passed a bill to allow communities to increase energy efficiency, reduce harmful emissions, and lower overall energy bills through community solar. Now we need to make sure our state Senate gets this bill to Governor Shapiro’s desk!

Solar energy is one of our best tools to fight the climate crisis and lower energy bills. However, not every family can afford solar panels, renters can't install them, and every roof isn't suited to them. Using community solar, solar companies can install solar panels on roofs, warehouses, or brownfields and let nearby residents subscribe to these solar power systems. 

Community solar ultimately offers customers more choices and saves them money, which is especially important for low-income residents and people of color, who typically pay a large percentage of their income on utilities.

Please join us in encouraging your state Senator to vote for Community Solar in HB 1842! 

Let’s face it. Pennsylvania is seriously falling behind other states in decarbonizing and expanding renewable energy use. We’re losing out on millions of dollars in manufacturing and construction jobs, and residents are seeing rising energy costs due to use of expensive fossil fuels. 

This bill would provide family-sustaining jobs and investments by expanding the solar industry while reducing subscribers' monthly utility bills.

It’s time to bring renewable options to ALL Pennsylvania communities, not just individuals and businesses able to afford the upfront cost of new solar panels! 

This bill will reduce pollution, expand access to solar energy technology, and improve the resilience of our communities. Now we need to get the Senate to pass this bill with broad, bipartisan support. Send a message to your Senator now and show the State Senate that Pennsylvanians strongly support clean energy.
