Dear Friend,
This weekend, the world watched in horror as Iran fired drone strikes and hundreds of ballistic missiles into Israel's sovereign airspace. As I said in the immediate aftermath of the attack, the United States stands with Israel, and we must pray for their peace as they fight for their survival against Hamas and their enemies.
Last week, I stood on the House Floor and gave a speech defending Israel. In my remarks, I denounced the Biden administration's lack of support for Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East. As the administration wavers in its commitment to our friend and partner, it is essential for Congress to stand with Israel. To watch the full House Floor speech, please click here.
Hearings On Capitol Hill:
We had another busy week in Washington, DC as the fiscal year 2025 Appropriations season kicks into full swing.
As a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security and the Subcommittee on Labor, Health, Human Services and Education, we heard testimonies from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, and the Secretary of the Department of Education, Miguel Cardona.
Questioning Secretary Mayorkas on January 6, the Border and More:
Secretary Mayorkas appeared before the Subcommittee on Homeland Security to request funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Let's be clear, Alejandro Mayorkas has proven himself unfit to lead the department responsible for securing our Nation's borders. For this reason, I voted to impeach him in February.
This hearing provided me with the opportunity to question the Secretary on various issues including whether there were undercover federal agents and paid informants in the crowd during the January 6, 2021, protest. The Secretary refused to provide adequate answers to my questions.

I also pressed the Secretary on the crisis taking place at our Southern Border. As we all know, the Biden administration's track record on securing our border has been a total and complete disaster. As millions of illegal immigrants and deadly fentanyl pour into our country, the Biden administration is attempting to shift blame for their own policies. It is time for accountability and my line of questioning to Secretary Mayorkas addressed that.
