In times of uncertainty, it is important that we turn to the experts for the most accurate information. That’s why I am so happy that this Tuesday, April 7, at 4 p.m., our friends at 314 Action are convening a Facebook Live virtual panel of our nation’s leading experts to educate the public about the reality of the pandemic. 314 Action has pulled together an incredibly informed and experienced group to teach us about COVID-19, its impact on society, and what we must do from here. The panel will include:

- Former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, one of America’s foremost experts on national and global health issues. Sebelius served in President Obama’s Cabinet as Secretary of Health and Human Services, where she worked to pass and implement the Affordable Care Act, and was elected statewide four times in Kansas as Governor and Insurance Commissioner.

- Former US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, MD, who created evidence based initiatives to tackle our country’s most urgent public health issues and epidemics while serving as America’s Doctor. As Surgeon General, he worked to protect the nation from Ebola and Zika and to respond to the Flint water crisis, major hurricanes, and frequent healthcare shortages in rural communities.

- Dr. Craig Spencer, MD, MPH, the Director of Global Health in Emergency Medicine at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. He serves on the front lines of this pandemic in the Emergency Room. He has worked in Africa and Southeast Asia as a field epidemiologist and survived Ebola in 2014.

As we navigate the current crisis, it is critically important that we get our information from the scientists and experts. That’s why I am very grateful to 314 for organizing this panel.
